CHOOSING SUBJECTS

See what is offered at every year level via this portal: subjectselection.ccw.vic.edu.au.

Languages

French and Japanese are the two languages we offer through to Year 12.
However, students can continue studying another language. This service is managed by the Victorian School of Languages. Tuition fees are separate to, and not linked to college fees. A non-standard timetable is approved before an enrolment is finalised.

Instrumental and vocal tuition

We can arrange external tuition during the day for guitar (various), trumpet, drum kit, piano (contemporary, classical) and vocal (singing, speech). Tutors invoice families independently. If you would like to access musical tuition onsite, register here.

Middle School (Year 7-8)

Core subjects are English, Humanities, Mathematics, Science, Religious Education and Physical Education. The only subject choice is the Language studied. French or Japanese is allocated based on documentation and responses at interview. Entry into the Literacy or English as an Additional Language programs is determined by specialist staff. Arts and Technology subjects are allocated by the College. Families are not required to purchase additional textbooks for these classes.

Pathways (Year 9-10)

Using the online portal, families submit a ‘New Subject Plan’ as part of the enrolment process. Subjects are offered depending on availability at the time of acceptance.
We understand that choosing subjects and pathways which best suit strengths and interests can be confusing. Families can access their Year Level Leaders to review their shortlist (including advancements) and finalise a plan. Subject selection for the whole school occurs in July-August.

Offerings are made according to capacity across programming ‘lines’. Every student will receive an email from our Subject Timetable Coordinator, in a scheduled sequence with VCE students having precedence. The person listed as Primary/Carer 1 on the S1 enrolment form will receive the notification not both parent/carers. Due to timetabling constraints, there may be no opportunity to change subjects once allocated. The email will include detail for how to order books and resources new or second-hand.
