Inaugural VET TECH Expo success!
Term four got off to a wonderful start with current and new students invited to take part in our first every VET Tech Expo.
The expo, on from 5 – 6.30pm, was a great experience as students and staff put their skills and knowledge on display. They enthusiastically explained how they design and create using tools, equipment and software. Families entered the expo via the Arts Centre and made their way down to the O’Hagan Centre for the full experience.
Many of our 2018 cohort of Year 7 students and their families were blown away by the opportunities available within the VET and Technology domains.
Older students explained to younger ones how they made their animated models, gaming characters, aluminium toolboxes, hairstyles and clothing. Makita representative Amilia Adams came from Melbourne in the Makita van and invited families to try the power tools for themselves: there was a quite a queue!
As always, the ever reliable hospitality team supplied an impressive array of sweet and savoury dishes; going a step further by inviting Andreas from Andiamo Foods to bring a wood-fired pizza oven and Gelati van. Every food option was a hit.
Lucky door prizes were won by the Weppner and Warhurst families.
Thanks to Deeane Cordy (Technology Leader), Paul Forde (VET Leader) and Shaun Mason (deputy principal, Learning Teaching & Innovation) for helping organise this inaugural event. It will be back next year!Back to News
