Horizons open up

Term 3 marks the launch of our innovative new pilot program – Horizon.
Thirteen students from Years 8 – 11 have each teamed up with a teacher who functions as their adviser during the 20 week program.
The teenagers applied to be admitted to the pilot scheme, going through an interview selection process.

Horizon is the brain child of the Learning & Teaching Team. Deputy Principal Shaun Mason says “We had a fantastic response! More than 40 students put in an application. It was really hard whittling it down to 13. As a pilot, we need to keep it to a manageable level for the College to facilitate.”

Participants have come from a range of year levels, areas of interests and passions. Most of them don’t know each other well, yet… However, they soon will! They took part in a team building session to prepare them for working closely together over the semester. They also took part in an information evening where parents were introduced to their child’s adviser.
Every student has chosen an area of interest that inspires them: an area they wish to focus on, to immerse themselves in knowing and understanding.
Keep an eye out for updates during the semester!
